This decision is a warning for any country that tries to manipulate with Libya's equity”, El-Sonni wrote on social networks.
The diplomat said Belgium's request was unanimously rejected by Security Council members, but did not provide further details.

Last month, the Belgian government said it would inform the UN commission of sanctions to merge some Libyan assets into Belgian banks to seize the 49m-euro obligations, which would go to a non-governmental organisation in the porin of Belgian prince Laurent.
The prince-owned organisation has indicted Tripoli for assets promised by dictator Muammar Gaddhafi.
In 2019, Prince Laurent had been highly criticized for an rude gesture. During a ceremony, while the national anthem was being recorded, he had sat down using the phone.
