Region is vaccinating population, nothing concrete in Kosovo

Kosovo continues to be one of the only countries in the region that has yet to receive no dose of vaccine against COVID-19. While many countries have already begun with the inoculation of the population, the country continues to host the vaccine supply. Over 100 thousand vaccines from COVAX have been promised to come this month, but [...]
Albania, Serbia, Macedonia and other countries in the region have already been supplied with vaccines against COVID-19, until they have begun vaccinating citizens with them. While Kosovo has still not received a dose of this vaccine, despite over 65 thousand people so far being infected with coronary.
Although it has been declared that Kosovo will be supplied at the end of February with 100,000 and 800 vaccines from COVAX, there is still nothing concrete in this direction. With this supply, the country would vaccinate only about 5.6 percent of citizens.
The spokesman in the Gavi Vaccinate Alliance has said they are hoping the vaccine supply process will begin as soon as this month.
However, from this alliance they have said they do not know when exactly Kosovo will be supplied.
“Hopefully this process will start as soon as this month, we are awaiting favourable regulatory results and the readiness of health systems and national regulatory systems in the individual participating economies. The deadline for using vaccines in Kosovo has not been confirmed”, Gazeta says.
Gavi officials have said the goal of COVAX is to distribute 2 billion doses of safe and effective vaccines by the end of 2021 in participating states.
Even the Ministry of Health has no information about where the country will be supplied.
Information spokespersons at this ministry have told Express that W NICEF has indicated that during these days the beneficiary states of COVAX will be informed about further steps.
This vaccine for profitable countries, which included Kosovo (20%) has been provided by the COVAX mechanism and the first doses in Kosovo are delivered via U NICEF. U n NICEF has indicated that these days benefits from COVAX will receive information from COVAX about the next steps and the time frame of access to the vaccine. COVAX, meanwhile, has made it known, according to their distribution route, that Kosovo, to begin with, will be given 100800 doses”, is said by this minister.
The Health Ministry has said health personnel in the country have been trained for vaccines until the vaccines' storage capacity has been strengthened.
Until Kosovo has received any doses of vaccines, many states have already vaccinated a portion of the population.
Serbia ranks second in Europe after the United Kingdom, as the state that has vaccinated most people. More than 800 thousand people have taken the vaccine so far.
Albania and Macedonia have recently begun vaccinating.
Other states are already waiting for additional supplies of vaccines against COVID-19.
