Record snowfall covered the central part of Russia. Snow cleaners and cleaning services have worked through the night and are trying to keep the access to the wind.
Numerous accidents were confirmed in Moscow, where local authorities urged drivers to use public transportation, but the appeal fell on deaf ears.
Cleanup operations have also been performed on railway lines to clean up the tracks, with workers using air pressure.
Over 10,000 employees engaged to maintain operational railway transport. Weather forecasts show no improvement in the situation, and snow will continue to decline over the weekend.
