The two leaders were seen skiing and traveling through snow in the famous “Krasnaya Polyanaan” south of Russia.
Belarus leader Lukashenko thanked Putin for the economic support his country received from Russia when he was facing massive protests last year.
Russia awarded Belarus a 1.5 billion-euro loan last September, a gesture of support for Lucasenko as protesters took to the streets following the August 9th elections, which opponents of President Belarus described as manipulated.
Lukashenko countered protests with violent pressure, a move widely condemned by the West.
A few days ago, opposition leader Svilatana Tsikhanouskaya, located in Lithuania, told the Swiss newspaper “Le Temps” That the opposition was no longer on the street because protesters could not resist the force used by police.
