Former Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga has written about the 18-year prison sentence of a woman charged with killing her boyfriend.
Jahjaga in her post writes that the justice system is working when the head of the murders are women, but according to her, it's not the same when men are the heads of these murders.
What a bitter irony of a people who have been killed by its occupants for centuries. Freedom and independence we built upon the premises of equality, justice, and equality to justice! We've done nothing if the cause for deviation from these values becomes gender!
This is her full post:
The Foundation Court in Ferizaj has sentenced a woman today who killed her boyfriend in 2018 to 18 years in prison.
The justice system, well, it's working before the excellence when the head of the murders is women.
While when women are victims and are killed by their husbands, all of Kosovo must stand up in protest to call on courts to pronounce deserved sentences to murderers.
What a bitter irony of a people who have been killed by its occupants for centuries!
Freedom and independence we built upon the premises of equality, justice, and equality to justice! We have done nothing if deviations from these values become genders.
