The decline of infections coincides with closing measures and restrictions on collection and movement, while governments seek to reconcile halting new levels of pandemic with the return of workers and children to school.
But optimism that the crisis will pass decreases from the release of new strains of the virus and fears the vaccine will be effective.
“Now is not the time to relax,” said Maria Van Kerkovo from the World Health Organisation at a press conference in Geneva.
“We should not put ourselves in a situation where the number of cases is rising again,” she added.
Given a seven-day average, 351,335 new corruption cases were reported throughout Thursday, compared to 863,737 registered on January 7th. The death toll fell from 17,649 registered on January 26th on 10,957 on February 16th.
COVIDD-19 infections occur in the United States on average of 77,883 new infections per day. This is 31 percent compared to the highest number of cases reported on January 8th. In the United States, 27.9 million people have been infected and 490,795 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic, the world's largest.
The vaccine has so far started in 85 countries, and 187,892,000 doses have been distributed, according to Reuters data that leads Gibraltar, a British territory in southern Spain, where 40 percent of the population has been vaccinated.
