Palestinian Ambassador to Serbia: Arab foreign ministers gathered Monday, will take measures on Kosovo

Palestinian Ambassador to Serbia Mohammed Nabhan has said that a meeting of Arab foreign ministers was held Monday in Cairo, where one of the topics was mutual recognition between Israel and Kosovo, as well as Pristina's decision to open embassys in Jerusalem. Nabhan has said this act of Kosovo is a violation, while adding that Islamic countries will take measures against Kosovo.
The act itself is a violation of the principle that instructs Arab and Islamic countries, which, like the rest of the world, believe that Jerusalem is an occupied city. Jerusalem because it is an occupied city, Arab and Islamic countries have formed the so - called Jerusalem Fund, whose chairman is King Hasan II of Morocco, whose task is to unify the financial efforts of Islamic countries toward Jerusalem. The embassy in Jerusalem, Islamic countries will take certain measures. This is exactly what was discussed in Cairo, about Kosovo's purpose to do it”, Nabhan told the Serbian media in Kosovo, “Kosovo Online”.
The decision to open embassys in Jerusalem, Palestinian Ambassador to Serbia says it is very dangerous for Kosovo.
For now, there has been a reaction to the media. All countries have voiced opposition, led by Turkey, to violating international law, and the EU has reacted. When it comes to Islamic countries, what exactly will happen next, it depends on each country separately. My job is to warn you because no country but the United States and Guatemala opened embassys in Jerusalem during Trump administration. As for Kosovo, I think it is too dangerous for them and prevents their efforts to gain international recognition”, he said.
Nabhan has mentioned Palestinians living in Jerusalem, while stressing that Kosovo “should be careful how others will respond”.
Anyone pursuing politics should consider the reaction of other countries. Be careful how others react to you. Kosovo should take into account the reactions of Arab and Islamic countries. Half a million Palestinians live in that Jerusalem where they want to open the embassy”, he said.
According to him, Kosovo has also had to speak to Palestinians before making decisions to open embassys in Jerusalem.
“is a Palestinian city, the one who wants to open that embassy there must speak to the Palestinians. If I want to come to your house, I have to knock on the door. I'll let you know I'm coming, because if I come by otherwise it's not okay. It's not in personal or interstate relations”, he said.
Officialising the mutual recognition of Kosovo-Israel and Kosovo's decision to open its embassy in Jerusalem has also made Turkey's president, Rexep Tayip Erdogan nervous. Erdogan believes that with this move, Kosovo has betrayed both the Muslim world.
Palestine's Foreign Affairs Ministry had also reacted to formalising bilateral recognition of Kosovo-Israel, describing this act as disappointing and calling on Kosovo to cancel the decision to open the embassy in Jerusalem.
The agreement that Kosovo signed with the occupational power (Israel) and its declaration of intent to open the embassy in occupied Jerusalem is a step that conflicts with everything Kosovo is trying to do to convince the world to recognise it”, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On the first day of February, the virtual ceremony of formal establishment of diplomatic relations between Kosovo and Israel was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pristina. Following the statements, Kosovo Foreign Minister Melza Haradinaj- Stubula and Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi have thanked and congratulated each other. The Israeli top diplomat has named Monday historic, thanking the US for this, while later uncovered a plaque with the inscription “Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Jerusalem, Israel”.
The recognition of Kosovo by Israel came as part of the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which was brokered by Donald Trump's administration in September last year. The agreement also included mutual recognition between Kosovo and Israel, as well as the pledge that Kosovo and Serbia place their embassies in Jerusalem.
Kosovo is the first predominantly Muslim country to place its embassy in Jerusalem.
