Both Berlin and the EU have been the target of criticism, claiming immunization is taking place faster in Great Britain, Israel and the US.
You can say that we will vaccinate 10 million citizens in the first three months, but we will also vaccinate only 10 million. In both cases, we will achieve that goal,” Merkel said in an interview for ARD television, Reuters reports.
Germany has about 83 million people and research show that citizens in several EU member states, including Germany and France, are less likely to vaccinate than British people, but Merkel said even in the most pessimistic forecasts and without the approval of several other vaccines, all older Germans will be vaccinated by the end of summer.
“I talked with Russia's president (Vladimir Putin) and today we saw some good information about the Russian vaccine,”, the German Chancellor added.
