French President Emmanuel Macron has sent letters to president of Kosovo Wjosa Osmani on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of Kosovo's independence.
He has praised former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti on paper to resume dialogue in July last year after a long break with the conditions made by Prime Ministers Haradinaj and Kurti, respectively.
Macron in his letter has underlined the need for the new government instead to engage strongly in Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Even Macron said that dialogue should be resumed on the basis of that achievement thus far.
“I would like to welcome Kosovo's commitment to dialogue with Serbia since its resumption, following the summit that Chancellor Merkel and I held on July 10th 2020. I fully support the European Union's mediation and its special representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive, final and legally binding agreement. It is important that discussions can resume as soon as possible, after the new Kosovo government has been elected, on the basis of progress already made”, Macron said in his letter.
However, it is expected to be seen what the approach of Albin Kurti, who is expected to take the lead in the new government after his party has won in the 14 February elections.
Kurt has already underlined several times that the dialogue has no priority.
