Latifi writes that the investigative journalist in Kosovo can pay him head.
Latif's full response:
For years journalism in Kosovo has been reduced to reporting on the daily protocol of institutions and in analysis of politicians' statements. What makes the journalist's profession glorious, investigative journalism, is almost in existence in Kosovo. Why? Of course, there may be some causes, but last night's brutal attack on Wisar Durijh disseminated the main cause: it is dangerous to make investigative journalism in Kosovo, because you can pay it on your head. Organised crime, within and outside state structures, as elsewhere in the world, is always intended to impose the Omertas Code, the code of silence: you can see crime, but you can't tell it, you may disagree with it, but you can't say it publicly. On the contrary, silence will be secured through intimidation and bleeding in ambushes organized the dark corners of this country that never separated the forces of darkness.
