Krasniqi: Increase in cases with David-19 can be expected

Krasniqi has not wanted to comment on easing anti-proliferation measures COVID-19 from the incumbent Government of Kosovo, but has said that the current framework situation is better than the past months, and that the number of about 500 hospitalised patients is under control.

He has spoken of the new British version as well as preparations for the vaccine.

Radio Free Europe: Mr. Krasniqi, what is the situation in Kosovo as to COVID -19 disease, and how far is the epidemiological situation being managed?

Valbon Krasniqi: As you've been informed over and over again, especially in recent months, we have a calmer situation in terms of the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Kosovo, including clinical management of cases. When we're under the clinical management of patients affected by COVID-19, in the last three weeks we've had the smallest number of patients lying on the ground, their numbers have been brought somewhere between 480 and 530 patients who are lying in all general hospitals and at CKUK.

As a result of this situation, on January 5th, we have restored all professional services to an ambulance and have also restored operations to certain provisions and have continued to gradually restore all services.

Radio Free Europe: Has this calm situation that you are presenting causing the incumbent government to take relief measures against COVID-19?

Valbon Krasniqi: In fact, the situation is better, more favorable than the past months. Months of November - 30 were heavy months for our health system. In the last week of November, the number of patients in our clinics had reached 1,010, and this number of about 500 cases is still high, but it's manageable and we have the situation under control.

Radio Free Europe: Do you expect there to be an increase in the number of cases in the coming weeks?

Valbon Krasniqi: We are carefully following the epidemiological situation at the country level and not only locally, but also in the surrounding states and beyond. We're witnessing that in most countries they're experiencing a new wave of cases with large numbers of infected people.

If we take into account the events that have taken place in our country, including the return of students to schools, then the campaign of political parties, mass gatherings, we can expect to have more new cases in the coming weeks.
