KSF Commander Lieutenant General Takman Rama has confirmed to Kosovo that the agreement has been signed with the state of Kuwait and the entity of the Force will launch the mission in March of this year, which is expected to last six months.
Rama shows whether there will be other partner states with which the KSF will operate in addition to the American Army, and also provides details about the procedures of selecting members serving in Kuwait.
Kuwait's Iraq was the countries in which the new Kosovo Army was expected to land on its first peacekeeping mission, but it has already been confirmed that it will be the second, where a symbolic number of KSF members will serve.
KSF units will be part of the Iowea National Guard mission.
We are now in the technical phase of the procedures, both administrative and that in March we will have a number, however symbolic, that will be by the US Army, on a peacekeeping mission in Kuwait. We are in the final process of completing the documentation of all of our members who will be part of this” mission.Says KSF Commander Nundman Rama.
He has indicated that the selection is done with compliance with the partner country and the American Army, and the personnel he travels are assigned on the basis of their needs and requirements.
The KSF has previously held joint training and members of the Force have spent a long time with partners.
Despite the role the entities will participate in, the importance and risk of having a peacekeeping mission is not dim.
KSF commander says there is a great race of members of the force who have expressed interest in such a service.
There are no specific criteria besides personnel, whether officers or officers, they are educated in American academys, they're interoperable and we don't have problems in the selection, sometimes it's a problem we all have to include that competition is big and who's lucky will be part of, but it's just the beginning and we're going to have a lot of activities in the future, not just with the American army”Says KSF commander.
Gen Rama says the KSF has witnessed capacities in search-of-save, demining, biological atomic chemical protection and other capacities that partners have been offered to co-operate with.
He expects, in addition to his mission with the U.S. Army, the KSF will operate alongside other world armies in such services.
“are these political problems that are related to NATO member states for non-recognition by some states that are NATO members, but we've offered to all partners, there are states that have expressed readiness, but there are some procedures that are needed in the future, but what I can say, in some form, we're breaking the ice, we're willing, we have capacities, whether current or other, but with staff, but with equipment and our goal is to be interoperable with partners and we've built that standard<>General Rama stated.
KSF's service on a global peacekeeping mission is taking place for the first time, and this is being done alongside the largest army in the world.
The decision to that effect was made by the Kosovo Assembly with 92 votes “for” and no “against” in January of this year. This was preceded by the Kosovo Government's decision to send the KSF's contingent on peacekeeping missions with the Iowa National Guard, taken on 31 December 2020.
