A 44-year-old working for a private postal service (Korrier) has not delivered over a hundred packages to the destination. Besides, he took them or sold them.

On Friday he has responded to the trial court at the District Court in Pffäficon, writes 20 minutes.ch.

On seven pages, the indictment lists all the goods it had in the 115-year-old packages that the 44-year-old did not hand over to recipients but collected in his house. These include women and men's clothing, sunglasses, earrings, blood thermometers, rubber boots, athletes, and so on.

From January to his arrest, in early July 2020, he had made his Saturday working tours in the Cyriah Canton municipalities, such as: Nürensdorf, Wang and Brüten.

He has worked for a private courier service that distributes packages on behalf of Swiss Post. The value of stolen goods in this way has been around 44,000 francs.

On Friday, the accused was facing trial in short procedure at the District Court in PfP.

Asked by the judge why he had not delivered the packages, he had a strange response: “From disappointment and anger, because I didn't find the delivery address”.

At that time he had just come from Geneva to live in Zurich and did not know the corresponding ways, sends albinfo.ch. That's why he mostly kept the packages at home and sold a small portion of them.

After I had collected the goods in my apartment, I didn't know what to do with them”. He feels bad and vows that he will never do anything like that again.

Polish in Switzerland since 2009

The prosecutor's proposed decision envisions a 12-month prison sentence for mass theft and seven-year expulsion from Switzerland.

The 44-year-old had no problem with the sentence: “I would have accepted a longer sentence, I feel guilty”. Porf, when the judge mentioned the seven-year exile from the country, he prayed: “I cannot return to Kosovo, give me another chance”.

Kosovar has lived and worked in Switzerland without residence or work permits since 2009. He had previously worked as a worker, a painter, and a placard. According to his lawyer, however, he was registered at the health insurance company and the AHV, and, in effect, he considered to be officially registered in Switzerland.

Court returns the case file for reprocessing

After long debates, the court did not make a decision. It was difficult to do so with reduced procedure, the chairman of the court has indicated. The accused had said during the trial that he had sold his stolen goods only once, his brother-in-law worth 500 francs. Other goods sold are also mentioned in the indictment.

He is also reportedly intent on selling collected goods, which the accused has denied at the session, sends albinfo.ch. For these reasons, the court has not ruled, but will return the files to the public prosecutor” says the judge. She (the prosecutor) will then have to write a new indictment, and the case will be taken from the tribunal on a regular procedure course.
