International relations expert Richard Caplan has expressed surprise at Vetevendosje's convincing victory.
The “is a far greater victory than the previous elections. Kurti's main priority seems not to be dialogue, but we remember that Biden during a telephone call with Vucinqi spoke more about the importance of dialogue and mutual recognition. Kurt will also be pressured to return to the negotiating table. I can say that this status quo is not good for either side”, stated for RTV Dukagjin, Richard Caplane.
While British researcher Ajda Hehir Aidan Hehir says citizens in Kosovo voted for radical changes.
Kosovo has been badly in need of such a change. People are tired of the old political register and the way they worked. Unemployment and lack of perspective have forced citizens to seek radical changes. The government must restore trust to citizens. I understand that many people want this government to fail because they preferred Kosovo to be led by the old political register of PDK and LDK”.
Hehir says that the victory of Kurt and Osman is a message for the European Union as well.
The location with the dialog has already changed. Trump and Green are gone. The Biden administration is keen to be more constructive in relation to dialogue. The European Union has realised that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade has already failed and that something in this direction needs to change. This grand victory of Kurt and Osman is a message that the old way of doing politics has already ended”.
Hehir has at the end praised the organisation of elections in Kosovo.
