The House of Representatives in the early hours of Saturday approved President Joe Biden's plan for $1.9 trillion in aid to those affected by the coronary pandemic.
After the approval of the House of Representatives, the package will now be sent for review and voting in the upper house of Congress in the Senate.
The United States is the most affected country in the world by pandemic. So far, about 28.5 million infected and 510 thousand victims have been registered there.
President Joe Biden has earlier criticised former President Donald Trump's approach to the pandemic and promised that once he comes to power he will take broader measures to combat the spread and negative effects of the new disease, including recovery of the economy and rapid distribution of vaccines.
It seems that the first effects of these measures have begun to emerge. On Friday, the number of hospitalised patients in the United States fell to the lowest level since the November presidential elections.
The number of hospital patients now stands for over 60 percent lower than at the beginning of January, when the record of 132,474 people in hospitals was reached, the Financial Times reports Express.
