The candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) for prime minister, Avdullah Hoti, said on Sunday, that the LDK government will continue to stand by farmers across Kosovo, continuing their subvention, as has happened this year, with the decision to double subsidies.

During the visit, to the potato processing plant “Pesova” in Vushtrri, Hoti, unveiled parts of the LDK's agriculture programme.

“From here today, I'm open and clear to all farmers that we're going to take on the pay for irrigation agricultural land under agricultural subsidies. We'll free the farmers from paying for the irrigation of agricultural land. We will provide basic insurance for agricultural cultures and work with potato breeders and other agricultural crops, so that we can get subsidies to production, not just for surface, but mainly for the amount produced. I believe this will help farmers get more subsidies. We will increase grants as well, we have maximized transparency in the distribution of grants”, Hoti said.

The LDK candidate commended the company's owner “Pesova” for increasing the quality of potato products, what they have enabled, for the products of this company to penetrate the European market.

I believe that with your help Kosovo agriculture will rise to a completely different level than what we have seen so far. We'll also remove the excise for oil derivatives depending on the land that farmers make”, Hoti said.
