Germany's Finance Minister, Olaf Scholz, said Saturday he is angry that no more doses of vaccines against him were ordered last year COVID-19.
According to “Our World in Data”, an online editor of scientific data, EU countries so far have vaccinated with the first doses of less than 4% of their population. The United States has that figure at 11%, while Great Britain is 17%. European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen has been criticised for the distribution of the EU vaccine's nagadals.
“I am angry at some of the decisions made last year”, Scholz told BBC Radio Today.
Asked about the responsibility of von der Leyen, Scholz, speaking in English, replied: “I think it's necessary for someone to learn a lesson, and that's also (true) for Europe. I think the European Union is strong”.
Scholz, a Social Democrat and von der Leyen, a Democrat, served together in Germany's ruling coalition until 2019, when she left to assume the post of European Commission president.
In an opinion on Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, von der Leeyen has said it is fraud to say that vaccines would be delivered more quickly if the signing of contracts had been signed earlier.
The production of a new vaccine is a highly complex business”, she wrote. “The fight against the coronobitus is a marathon, rather than a spring”, the EC president added.
