“The states of Bavaria and Saxony today urged the government to classify the Tirol and border regions of the Czech Republic as mutation areas of the virus and to implement border controls”, Minister Seehofer told the German daily “Sueddeutsche”
“For this has been achieved compliance with Chancellor and vice-cancellin”, this minister added, saying the new measures will begin to be implemented on Sunday, writes The Guardian, the newspaper Express broadcast.
In late January, Germany banned most travelers from classified countries as mutation areas or countries hit mostly by new and more infectious versions of the virus.
The new regulations will only make the exception for several cases, including Germans returning home and workers of important sectors, such as doctors.
Germany has noted a decline in the number of new cases after two months of strict isolation, including closing schools, restaurants and most of the shops. Recently, however, concerns have increased because of the high number of cases in the countries of the region.
