Microsoft's “The founder did not invest in Bitcoin”, he said in a live conversation on the social club network, the BBC writes.
He noted that he prefers to invest in the company “producing a specific” product, citing as an example a vaccine against malaria and measles.
The billionaire said he chose his investments based on whether they would be worth more to others.
In a previous interview, he discussed Tesla's founder Elon Musk's enthusiasm for the virtual currency.
My general teaching would be that if you had less before Elon, you should be careful”, he told Bloomberg.
“Elon has thousands of money and is very sophisticated, so I'm not worried that his bitcoin will grow or somehow sit”, Gates told Bloomberg, claiming that he also considers cryptomontheten as energy problems.
During this week, Elon Musk was removed from first place on the list of the richest people in the world, from Jeff Bezos, whose assets are estimated at $179.9 billion. Musk is second with $160 billion, followed by Gates with $133.3 billion.
