Ambassador Szunyog in an interview for the Council of European Investors has indicated that the European Union is the biggest donor of the COVAX programme.
He has said that due to large demands the full supply of vaccines from COVAX is not expected to occur before the second part of 2021.
Both of them, the Kosovo government and the EU are doing their best to provide vaccines as soon as possible. For example, through the facilitator programme called COVAX Kosova will receive free vaccines for 20% of the population. Kosovo has followed procedures properly, however, because of major demands, full supply of vaccines from COVAX, is not expected to occur before the second half of the year. The EU is the largest donor of the COVAX programme, which is a global instrument managed by the World Health Organisation (OBSH) Furthermore, through this EU instrument, it aims to provide faster supplies to this region. In December 2020 The EU has allocated an additional 70m euros to buy vaccines, which will then be distributed based on the total number of the population”, Szunyog has said.
