The chief of the EU Office/EU Special Representative and Chiefs of Missions of EU Member States in Kosovo through a media communiqué have said they are closely following preparations for early parliamentary elections.
The same have demanded that the election process be transparent and reliable and inclusive elections.
“Call on all relevant Kosovo institutions to act in line with international standards, free from political pressure, and to respect the decisions of the Central Election Commission and the judiciary. We encourage Kosovo citizens to exercise their right to vote, respecting all measures against the pandemic COVID-19.
The EU has sent a (EEM) Election Experts Mission to Kosovo covering the entire process of election preparation, voting and counting, including the stage of complaint. EEM will prepare a report on elections, including recommendations on how to improve and further strengthen the electoral process”, said the communique.
For more, we diplomats from the EU Office/ The SPBE and representations of EU member states, together with other international colleagues, will closely follow the election process on Election Day by visiting polling stations. We also welcome and support the work of Kosovo civil society organisations in monitoring the election campaign and the process on Election Day.
We firmly maintain our strong and stable partnership with Kosovo. We are willing to engage with the elected members of the Assembly. We are confident that the president will soon be elected by the new Assembly and the new government will be formed, in time, in order to promote further reforms and developments, fight corruption, strengthen the rule of law and advance Kosovo's European future, including the continuation of EU facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
We are looking forward to discussing the implementation of recommendations of successive European Union Election Monitoring Reports with Kosovo authorities after the elections. We invite all parties to get a grip on work after elections so they can apply those recommendations”, said the communique.
