EU chief praises organising Kosovo elections

The chief of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, has visited the polling centre at the “Dania”, where it has been reported closely with the election process procedures at a polling station and at the polling site, calling it impressive to organise elections in Kosovo. He has ordered Kosovo citizens that [...]

He has ordered Kosovo citizens to respect anti-pronged measures CO VID, while saying it is still early to give a conclusion regarding citizens' participation in early parliamentary elections currently under way.

“even though the weather is challenging we have gone out to monitor the elections. So far it is hard to give a concrete conclusion, but I can see that people at polling stations have knowledge of the process and know what they are doing, are aware of the importance. Election organisation is beautifully impressive. Of course, we have found that there are also difficulties because of the COVID-19 pandemic and all measures to be taken regarding pandemic. I would like to tell everyone who wants to vote that he or she should respect the measures against the pandemic”, he said.

He has warned that he will closely follow the voting process in other regions as well.

From the first impressions he received at the school “dania” in Pristina, Szunyog voiced optimism that the atmosphere conditions would not prevent citizens from coming out to vote.

“We are interested in voter participation in this election. Of course here in Pristina, access is easier at the polls, but so far we have seen that weather conditions have not had a negative effect on the citizens' exit to vote. But we will still have to wait during the day to see how much participation in this election will be. We also plan to get out and out of Pristina, see how other regions are voting. Atmospheric conditions are difficult, but we will try to go out and monitor other” regions, he added.

At lower elementary school “dania” in Pristina, eligible voters have 11 thousand and 558 people.
