The EU secured 300 million doses of Pfizer vaccines in November last year and announced a preliminary agreement for another 300 million doses on January 8th, which envisions the possibility of discussing the terms of the new contract.
The commission approved a new agreement today,”, a spokesman told Reuters.
The official involved in talks with Pfizer said that under the new agreement, EU countries have already ordered 200 million doses to be handed over this year, while talks on deadlines for the next 100 million doses are still under way.
“Talks with the European Commission are under way,” said a Pfizer's spokesman for Reuters, while a BioNTech spokesman refused to comment.
