Economic development dependent on the formation of a stable government

Strengthening the private sector and creating new jobs should be among the main priorities of Kosovo's new government for 2021, say experts on economic issues, which stress that a stable government must be formed to be implemented. Kosovo Economic Ode Chairman Berat Rukiqi in [...]
The chairman of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Berat Rukiqi, in an interview for Online Economy has stressed that the new government needs to be committed to recovery of economic damages, focusing on the private sector.
On the other hand, Rukiqi has mentioned that the future government will face a difficult and complicated situation due to the consequences caused by Coronavirus and limited measures for its prevention.
And we also have the research that we have without public opinion what they expect from the political parties that voted it out, most of the time it has dominated employment, and we believe that sustainable employment is created through private sector development. Citizens should not expect that employment is created in the public sector or that everyone is now employed in public institutions, or in other countries, so single sustainable employment is created through the creation of circumstances that the private sector grows, which has more investments, exports, production, more services and other products, so employment circumstances are created, and thus should be the focus of the government in the coming”, Rukiqi said.
And this governance comes in an extremely difficult situation, because we have a still difficult situation, in terms of economics as a consequence of pandemic, so Kosovo over the last year for the first time has faced an economic contraction that has come exclusively due to the uncertainty, and this normally will leave consequences even this year, but also next year, so there is not expected a rapid recovery of the economic situation, since the economic downturn as a result of the pandemic is supposed to be restored more rapidly in the circumstances that will last a period of short time, he stressed further.
Likewise, facing various variants of Covid-19 will be challenging for Kosovo, as confronting Coronavirus is not expected to end until the population is vaccinated.
And we're now seeing that all indicators are, not only to us, but also to other countries that the situation with the pandemic is perhaps with a change because we now have a little bit of an opening of economies in all countries, but this situation that is related to the management of pandemic and the restrictions that convey this situation will continue over a certain period of time, all of the most optimistic versions speak of the end of the summer 2021, or the autumn of this year as a time in which a large part of the countries will have a little bit of a cause for vaccine. In us and this is a challenge”, he said.
On the other hand, the chairman of the American Chamber of Economics of Kosovo, Arrian Zeka, also in an interview for Online Economics said that as a top focus from the next government, it would have to be health care, national security, education sector, and assistance to companies hit by the Padrejd-19.
Kosovo, of course, has been caught up in advancing reforms in many areas, I mentioned some of the main inevitable pillars as national security, health care, which on the other hand has shown that due to inadequate investments and due to a disenviable situation, the outbreak of pandemic has then forced on a greater restriction of social life in general but also economic activities. So these would have to be the main pillars together, of course, with the improvement of the situation even in the education sector, already this is very important even for businesses, the inevitable government should have focused on more proportional support from day one to the companies and employees hit in the country after the outbreak of the Deved-19”, Zeka said.
Economics dependent on the formation of a stable government
Rukiqi said the government's frequent shift is a disaster for Kosovo, as the poor political situation creates economic instability.
“I believe that this time we have a slightly clearer situation that is good news, we have said even in our previous positions when there has been a call for early elections, or whenever governments have not completed the mandate that this is a disaster for Kosovo. Therefore, I believe that a majority of parliamentary consolidation that is now almost verified will positively influence the sense that political stability and political stability will be a precondition for economic reform, and the second part is the establishment of 48x1> institutions, Rukiqi stressed.
Likewise, Zeka says that all difficulties in the economy have been created as a result of changing governments and their invisibility.
According to him, it is very important that the Assembly be introduced as soon as possible and the new government is established, and the focus is economic development.
“I believe that it is extremely important that the Assembly be binding as soon as possible, but at the same time to create the new government which would reflect the outcome of the February 14th elections, it is more than necessary that from the first day of the new government and its focus be on economic development, but also in other areas that are important and connected on one side to the economic development of”, Zeka stressed.
The “given that even during the past year we have actually had difficulties in actual functioning of institutions, because we started the year with a government in office and then we had a government that didn't last long and again most of its days has been in government with restrictions on operation”, Zeka said.
In addition, Zeka says that if the new government starts to implement the promises made to achieve economic development, then expectations in citizens will increase.
What we can say is that we now have many pledges on the part of parties, especially those who have taken the trust of citizens to form new institutions, if those pledges start to be implemented immediately since the first days of the new government then, of course, expectations for citizens will exist and we expect new opportunities to open up and open up a new perspective of economic and social development. It would be good for the new government to consider these new circumstances that were created after the outbreak of the pandemic to exploit them, and on the other hand to influence with its measures or its policies even with the change of its” structure, Zeka concluded.
