The Kosovo and Israeli foreign ministers will hold a virtual ceremony to establish diplomatic ties between the two countries. Israeli journalist Amichai Stein has said US Balkan envoy Matthew will also attend the ceremony Palmer and the man in charge of the American Foreign Mission, Jonathan Shrrier.
Because the establishment of connections was announced by former US President Trump ʹ US envoy to the Balkans Matthew Palmer and chargeman Jonathan Schrier will join the virtual ceremony also to clarify that the new administration supports this step”, Stein wrote.
Kosovo's foreign minister was scheduled to visit Israel last week, but the trip was postponed because Israel has stopped all flights due to COVID-19.
The recognition of Kosovo by Israel came as part of the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia brokered by the Trump administration in September. The agreement also included normalisation between Israel and Kosovo and that Kosovo and Serbia open their embassies in Jerusalem.
Kosovo would be the first Muslim majority country to place its embassy in Israel in Jerusalem, and along with Serbia would be the first European countries to do so. So far, only the United States and Guatemala have their embassies in Jerusalem. Most countries have chosen to decide and keep their embassies at Tel Aviv.
