Germany will increase border restrictions with Mosela's French department, which today joined the country's list of <x0) concern variant” compiled by the Institute “Robert Koch” for disease control in Berlin.
Such areas are subject to entry bans with only a few exceptions -- for example, to truck drivers and several main workers.
Mosela's travel restrictions will take effect by Tuesday.
Fifteen other countries and regions have been declared danger zones from Germany due to the spread of the new dangerous variants of COVID-19, including the Czech Republic and Tirolin in Austria.
The strict restrictions from Germany have been criticised by the European Commission as unproportionate and not in line with a agreed framework for the entire EU.
