It includes a funding mechanism that should allow 92 low- and medium-income economies to have access to vaccines.
However, wealthy countries are already addressing producers directly by providing additional doses and thus contributing to reduced the amount specified for COVAX.
This was highlighted by WHO leader Tedros Adhanom Ghebrreesus, who accused some rich countries of minimising the vaccine distribution system, COVAX, especially destined for non-deserved countries.
“At present, some wealthy countries have approached producers to provide access to additional doses of anti vaccines CO VID-19, which is affecting their contracts with COVAX. The number of certain doses for COVAX has been reduced due to this”, Ghebraeses said.
