Even though for years it was ranked the most reliable institution by the citizens of Kosovo, the events that recently took place within the KP caused this belief to have a huge fluctuation.
The published videos where police officials were seen using physical and mental violence against some citizens, also prompted reactions from many differents to the issue.
Despite that, there is a chain of investigative organs that deal with these developments that are then given the right direction.
News. We have contacted the Kosovo Police Inspector, who have announced that during the following year, exactly in 2020. The IPK has accepted and administered a total of 1,000 and 658 complaints, of which 17 information.
Of these complaints, between 1000 and 71 or 64.60% of the total number accepted in the IPK have qualified that contain elements of police officers' involvement in disciplinary violations and that the same were prosecuted in the Internal Investigation Division and Verification of the Past within the Kosovo Police framework.
The other “The stake (574 complaints) has qualified as complaints containing elements of police officers' involvement in criminal acts. These complaints were prosecuted in the IPK Investigation Department for treatment/ex1>, said in IPK's response.
Also, the inspectors have claimed that in the year we left behind, the overall number of complaints to police officials have been recorded for 15%.
One of the reasons that led to an increase in the number of complaints was the pandemic situation, where many of the revolted citizens complained about the fine given for not setting a mask or disrespecting other measures imposed under anti-law. CO VID.
“Raise the number of complaints is the result of raising citizens' credibility to IPK, but also due to the pandemic caused by the Tyvid-19 virus and the implementation of measures to prevent this pandemic, such as wearing masks, restricting freedom of movement and other measures. This has prompted a number of citizens to file complaints because of fines imposed by the Kosovo Police, expressing different disagreements and complaints about police actions”, it was said further in response.
In addition to the accepted complaints, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate in the past year has prosecuted with criminal complaints to the State Prosecutor's total of 82 cases.
In 2020 The IPK has carried out a total of 32 arrests of police officers suspected of criminal acts and six suspected citizens (who have been involved in criminal activities in cases where KP employees were investigated). Also recommended are 83 suspensions and a transfer.
Unlike the Kosovo Police recently, there were several applications, where many young Kosovars who will be part of this institution in the service of citizens eventually joined this institution.
