According to a statement on the Defense Department's website, Reynolds was admitted to a Canberra hospital in advance with the advice of her cardiologist, having suffered earlier from the heart.
The statement didn't specify how long Reynolds was staying in the hospital.
A member of her staff, British Higgins, claims she was raped by a male colleague in 2019 when she was a government media adviser.
She said that after a night out for a drink with her coworkers, a colleague offered her to take a cab with her. But instead of leaving Higgins home, he took his new wife to the Canberra Parliament, where the two chambers of Australia's parliament and the prime minister's office are located.
Higgins said she was raped inside Reynolds's office.
The woman was discovered by a security guard while she was lying on a semi-naked couch after the man left.
The former personnel said the incident was initially treated as a security breach. She reported the alleged rape to superiors and police, but initially chose not to file an official complaint because she wanted to protect her dream job and the ruling Liberal Party on the eve of the elections.
