About 30,000 people, who have applied for voting outside Kosovo, have not yet been called by the Central Election Commission (KQZ) to verify their personal data.
So said Radio Free Europe, Freedom Krasniqi, co-director of the organisation “Germin”, which deals with diaspora issues and is closely following preparations for the election process.
In January of this year, the CEC had announced that Kosovo citizens living abroad would call as a verification measure before registering officially on the voters' list.
Under the legal deadlines, the CEC must Certificate the final voter list for early February 14th parliamentary elections on February 2nd.
Situated in this situation, the CEC's Election Operations Department will recommend continuing the phone call schedule for applicants who have registered successfully to vote via mail.
Free Europe Radio has learned from CEC officials that the recommendation includes registered persons who have not yet been called, however, to be included in the final list of original voters.
That means they will be allowed to vote immediately, meanwhile, the verification will take place during the following days.
But according to this recommendation, those who fail to verify, the CEC will not count their vote sent by mail.
This recommendation will be voted in at Tuesday's CEC meeting.
