Today's CEC meeting passed with heated debate over diaspora votes. A decision to establish a commission to convey posts from outside Kosovo has been requested at this meeting.
CEC member from the Vetevendosje Movement Sami Kurteshi proposed the establishment of a commission conveying posts coming from outside Kosovo, as well as demanding that the decision be made to accept the post by 7:00 on 13 February, 24 hours before the voting deadline ends.
“We have discussed last night's meeting to discuss the creation of a group from the CEC and the secretariat where all political parties are representatives to be forwarded abroad to the CEC at any step to avoid any possibility of procrastination and Post delays. The second I proposed and was clear that, the CEC will make the decision that the post will be accepted by 7pm on February 13th, 24 hours before the end of voting terms”, he said.
However, even though these proposals were not approved, the next member of the CEC by LDK, Sami Hamiti, who said that the last address is fahu postal number 6, and according to him, it is not necessary to establish this commission.
“Fahal is he, and every vote must go there. It's not the street, Migeni, it's the number 6 Fahu postal mail. Just if these happen and come to an indefinite location, then there may be problems”, Hamiti said.
Even Commission Chairman Valdetta Daka said that to establish the commission there have been no such practices in the past.
There was no truck inside the CEC, first. There was no commission that accepted envelopes or verified, nothing. With a police escort, that practice existed. So, observers, the police have been present at the postal fahu. In the CEC, votes have never come, those votes have gone to QNR”, she said.
The CEC at today's meeting has accredited several international observers.
