The World Health Organisation has called on Europe and pharmaceuticals to accelerate the vaccine against the virus and share doses with the Balkans before the 70% limit of vaccine in their population.
World Health Organization, O BSH through the director of this institution for Europe, Hans Cluj has reiterated O'S call Whether rich countries share in poor doses of the vaccine after vaccinating some of their population. “We know that the EU, Canada, Great Britain and the US have ordered four to nine times more vaccines than they need. I think it should not be expected, until 70% of the population is vaccinated, to start sharing vaccines with the Balkans, Central Asia or Africa”, Cluj said in an interview with the news agency, AFP. This week, the number of vaccination of 100 million people in the world has been passed, while 65% of vaccines have been given to high income countries.
Join forces to boost production capacities
O BSH requires more European co-operation and pharmaceutical concert. “We have to unite”, World Health Organisation for Europe Director Hans said of the AFP. If it does not become otherwise, the competing pharmaceutical producers need to join forces to tremendously increase production capacities”, the AFP writes, broadcast the DW.
To ensure a fair distribution of the vaccine, O Together with support from the Gavi coalition, Covax programme has been established. This programme has set the goal that until the end of the summer, vaccines are available sufficient to vaccinate 20% of the population of countries participating in the initiative. The funding for the world's 92 poorest countries has been secured.
Director of O BSH for Europe, Hans Kluge spoke for AFP also concerning the question, whether current vaccines are effective even against new versions of the virus. Cluj told about AFP on Friday, that „this is the big question. I'm worried.” He demanded that countries prepare for the virus's problematic mutations and become more special tests of the virus segmentation. Out of 53 countries that are in European space of O BSH, where some Central Asian countries do, 37 of them have outlined the British version of the virus and 17 South African mutants. Overall in the EU, the first dose of vaccine has taken about 2..5% of the population.
