The Great Britain Embassy in Kosovo has said they will continue to monitor closely the number of votes coming from the Kosovo election diaspora, adding that due to the short term for votes coming abroad, there is danger that not all ballots will arrive on time at the Central Election Commission.
Through a media report, this embassy says that, as in previous elections, the voting process abroad has not been perfect, although this time there are record numbers of applicants.
The embassy also says they will continue to monitor closely the voting process and counting votes.
Over 100,000 applications for new voter registrations in the diaspora were accepted by the CEC. These are record numbers. As in previous elections, this process has not been perfect. Previous EU election monitoring missions have recommended that the law be changed so as to allow more time for pre-election processes.
This has not happened, and the deadline for these early elections is even shorter than normal, putting pressure on the CEC and creating risks that not all ballots from abroad will arrive on time.
This mission, along with others, is engaging in relevant institutions and is pleased that the necessary arrangements have been made for all diaspora papers arriving on time to be taken safely and counted without interference. We will naturally continue to monitor this closely.
