Beden made these comments on February 26th as Ukrainians marked the seventh anniversary of Moscow's steps to annex the Ukrainian Crimean Union at the same time as the first kidnapping of land in Europe by World War II.
The United States will never recognise and recognise the peninsula's deliberate annexation from Russia and stay with Ukraine against Russia's aggressive actions. We will continue to work to keep Russia responsible for abuses and aggression in Ukraine”, Biden said.
In 2014, Russia has surveyed the Crimea and supported separatists in two provinces east of Ukraine, after protesters in Kiev had ousted former pro-Kremlin president Viktor Yanukovych from office.
The war in eastern Ukraine has left more than 13,000 people dead, and the conflict continues.
Biden has had a key role in mobilizing US support for Ukraine against Russian aggression, at the time he was vice president of former President Barack Obama's administration in 2009-2017, making at least five visits to this region after the outbreak of hostilities.
Last week, Biden has reiterated US support for Ukraine in his first speech directed at a foreign audience.
At Munich's Conference, held on 19 February, he has said Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty are “of vital importance” for Washington and Brussels.
However, the US president has not yet discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, since he took office on January 20th.
