US Air Force is deploying B-1 bombers to Norway for the first time, a movement sending a message to Moscow that the US Army will operate in a capitalised Arctic region and will provide support to its allies in the area.
CNN reported on Monday, saying bombers and approximately 200 Americans stationed at the Dies Air Force base in Texas will be deployed at Orland Air Base in Norway.
Within three weeks, missions will begin in the Arctic Circle and international airspace on Russia's northwest coast.
Movement in Norway signals that the US is better prepared to deal with Russian aggression in the area.
Bombing missions take weeks to plan, CNN reported, so Norway's deployment has been at work for a while.
Biden has made it clear that he plans to take a much more difficult stand against Russia than his predecessor, President Donald Trump. He spoke to Putin six days at his presidency.
And as he agreed to extend the START treaty between the US. and Russia for five years, Biden said in a speech Thursday at the State Department that he was not much like Putin in other areas.
“at the same time, I made it clear to President Putin in a very different way from my predecessor, that the United States days for Russia's aggressive actions that interfere with our cyberattack elections”, Biden said.
