America confirms its position in the World Health Organization. The head of the organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus, welcomed the announcement, which comes after confirmation last month that Washington under President Joe Biden will not leave WHO.
“Since our first day at the White House we will return to the World Health Organization and the Paris climate agreement”, Biden had declared earlier.
Admission to it was confirmed during an online conference of an American powerman who confirmed that the country would participate in a programme to add tests, diagnostics and vaccines to the body, while joining global efforts to respond to pandemic.
We remember that on 15 April, former President Donald Trump formalized “divorci” of his administration by the World Health Organization.
Trump suspended US contribution to the international organisation, causing considerable damage. The United States has been WHO's first contributor since 1948, with funds totalling up to $500m annually.
