Tens of a coastal town in Texas, United States, challenged the cold weather to save thousands of sea turtles.
Volunteers working for the local group “Sea Turtle” have received over 4,000 sea turtles for rehabilitation, writes the Daily Mail.
Those who are dealing with the protection of these turtles are hoping that they will gradually increase their body temperature while they are keeping them indoors.
The director of this group, Wendy Knight, said the situation is unprecedented and fears that hundreds of turtles may have died of cold weather.
Very low temperatures paralyse sea turtles and enable them to feed and keep their heads on water.
Otherwise, the southern part of the United States has been involved in a rare storm of freezing winters, which has brought a lot of snow and low temperatures, causing power cuts for millions of consumers.
At least 21 people have died, while heavy snow has blocked many roads and affected the cancellation of flights.
