In our government programme, we had also seen the radical change in the status of the Kosovo Privatisation Agency (AKP). We aimed at reviewing the entire privatisation process, which meant a different treatment of both public and state property. Our government at two of its meetings, on March 10th and March 23rd 2020, had made two decisions through which it asked the AKP to initially suspend all actions regarding property incompatible from the rental asset list, and then, to suspend to the indefinite deadline, all actions related to the incompatible properties it has under management. These decisions were abolished by the government, which was installed after us, but had continued calls on the AKP not to announce any new wave of privatisation. Meanwhile, the Kosovo Assembly had established a parliamentary investigative commission to investigate eventual abuses in the privatisation process.
Now I have been informed that the AKP board is aimed at misusing the institutional vacuum by attempting to launch new liquidation waves contrary to the above-mentioned decisions. The board's calls on the institution's alleged independence and the need for the country for faster privatisation in order to generate additional revenues for the state budget have confirmed our further concern for abuses in this institution. I see it very important to publicly address the AKP board at the request that it not challenge institutional mechanisms and try to open new waves of privatisation or liquidation contrary to decisions in place. I suggest that one of the main pillars of our government's programme continues to remain fighting corruption and organised crime. Consequently, within this framework the eventual challenge of the AKP board will also be addressed in relation to the government and the assembly released by the February 14th 2021 elections.
