New varieties of the virus are added to an increasing list of variants already found in the United States, including those first discovered in the United Kingdom, Brazil and South Africa.
Scientists have also identified variations that have first appeared on American territory, such as those originally in the Gulf Zone of San Francisco, Southern California and central states.
