Over 4,200 education workers with Coddy-19, masks and disinfectant are lacking in schools

Over 4,200 education workers have been infected with the Devvid-19 virus, since the first cases in Kosovo were presented. Meanwhile, there is often a shortage of masks and disinfectants in schools. So said in an interview for Kosova Press, representatives of the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture, Ymer Ymer, who has talked about recent agreements, such as the collective agreement, as well as the one with the incumbent Prime Minister, Avdullah Hotin. For the latter, he said it was just a oral agreement.

The second fifth of this year's elementary and middle-level school year began on January 18th. From that date many students and teachers have been infected with this and their lack of instruction.

Ymer said Fearing that the increase in the number of infected people in recent days will also affect the number of educational personnel infected, which could send a school to variant C.

We don't have an exact number but we can say that education workers, including teachers and other workers who are directly engaged in the teaching process, we've got over 400, we're afraid that increasing the number of infected days, will also affect the number of people infected by educational personnel, and that could take some school to Option C, that's online learning, which is less productive than other variants of... confidence in the teaching and students to keep the distance, set aside, and use disinfective masks, and use the degent <x> he said.

Ymer said that the Ministry of Education had split the budget for hygienic means and for additional payments, there are still masks and very often even disinfectors at schools.

“We are disappointed in the municipal education directorates, there has been a budget approved by the Government of Kosovo with the Education Ministry's proposal, even for toilet means, but also for additional fees of teachers who hold hours beyond standards. They haven't used it, often there's a shortage of school masks, as the Institute of Health predicts, most teachers and students use their masks, disinfectant, most of the time there are in schools, but there are also cases where there are no”, he said.

Ymer also stopped at the signing of the collective agreement between the SBASK and the Ministry of Education, where he said he was in a printing procedure. According to him, the reason for not publishing the agreement is meant not to influence the election campaign.

We have two types of agreement. The signature of the collective agreement we have with the Ministry of Education. The contract is taken by the Ministry of Education and it's in the printing procedure... it's almost the same contract, only with some additional employee benefits, as is the 13th pay at the end of the year, which is linked to the performance of teachers... the heads of union associations have less than two hours to preempt the rate in order to conduct union activity within the week, to dissemibilize educational workers and students to work with many... While the second part of the agreement is oral, we do not have it signed with the prime minister in office for additional salaries, which we demand in much of the 300 euros we have behind us for October, November, December. We agreed with the split in two parts, the first part with the pay of February month, and the second part in May”, he said.

In the end, Ymtri said SBASK expects the new government to live up to the agreements they have with the Ministry of Education.

“We expect the agreements and obligations the Government of Kosovo receives, the next government coming to continue these agreements. We have the full conviction that we will find understanding, always in the interest of educational workers and in the interest of raising quality and education, we expect to live the second half of the deal in May”, he added.
