Deputy Prosecutor General John Carlin told reporters that at least 280 people against whom an indictment was filed by the Justice Department has already been arrested.
Investigations concerning the responsibilities are moving fast, to an unprecedented extent”, he said.
“responsibility will face justice”, Carlin added.
At least five people died, including a police official, when violent protesters attacked Congress, in an effort to prevent Joe Biden's victory over Trump from the November 3rd presidential elections last year.
Most people were arrested after they themselves had published social networking, indicating that they have participated in the event. Some of those arrested have been charged with threatening American lawmakers.
A week after this event, the House of Representatives pressed charges against Trump for inciting riots, but on February 13th, the Senate found him innocent of the charge.
