Since the beginning of the second half anniversary, 19 teachers, 50 students and a technical worker have been infected in Pristina municipality schools with COVID-19. Only in the capital's two schools is online instruction under way, resulting in positive teachers and students with COVIDD-19.
The education director in Pristina municipality, Hope Shala, in an interview for Kosova Preiss says there is a decline in the number of coronary infected within Pristina schools.
Shala says the learning process at this half-year is going better than the previous one, however, states there is a decline in quality in education as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This period started a little bit better after we had the experience of the first period and we did an analysis of what went well and what wasn't, in fact, all schools have done the same with the DKA and the lesson is already going better. We don't have any serious problems right now, we have a number of infected people, but not like in the first period, it means there's a drop in the number of infected. At the moment we have 19 teachers, a technical staff and 50 students infected in different schools, which in case a student is positive in a classroom then class goes online, but as a school, we only have the Nazim Gafurri . 1 to 5 classes online and the school in Heival class 6 to 9”, she says.
Shala says the health state of those affected with COID-19, according to information they have, is good and they have no complications.
The first education in Pristina, says they are aware that there is a decline in quality for different reasons over the past year, however, says they are constantly working to improve quality at the municipality level.
She announced that a training will be held today and tomorrow with the head of the capital's schools, aimed at assessing the school performance. After this training, Shala said schools from Monday will begin to assess performance and extract weaknesses within schools.
We haven't made any assessments to know whether there is a impasse or whether there are successes in this period, but we're aware there are no successes and there's a drop in quality due to either the brief minute of classes, whether the lack that students have done because of infection or educators because of the COVID-19 infection. But we as the DKA are constantly working to improve the quality at the municipality level. Now we're holding a training with the Pristina Community Directors' Association, with all the school directors and quality co-ordinators, that is, training is to assess the performance of the school, which in fact, after the two-day training that is today and tomorrow, the schools from the moon begin to assess the weaknesses and shortcomings they have in schools and have to set priorities for working and to avoid those shortcomings that exist in the school, Shala says.
Despite Shala's assessment that part-time and grade classes divided into two groups are not very effective, says the return to normal will only be done when they receive such recommendation from the IKSHPK.
And we're always working with the ICHPK recommendations and the moment they release the measures and it's said that we should go back with all the students in class, we're willing to go back and we're aware that it's much better to all the students back. But while we have recommendations from them and from the UN that cannot all students return, we respect all those” measures, she said.
The education director in Pristina, says it continues to be problematic to keep learning online due to lack of technological equipment, however, says teachers and students have already been trained to use online platforms.
As for the supply of schools with disinfectant and masks, Shala says they stand well and all preparations have been made during the winter break.
“During winter rest all schools are supplied with disinfectant and disinfectant reserves, we have also had multiple donations from donors, in this case U. NICEF has supported all Pristina municipality schools even with disinfectant material. So we're doing it on our own, but with cooperation and with donor help, these difficulties are being overcome. It means that in terms of the technical aspect of obtaining disinfectant tools, the level of purity in schools has also increased. It remains only awareness of the population in general because the population reflects on students within the”, Shala says.
The second half anniversary this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic started on January 18th.
