While tensions between Washington and Moscow are rising due to Ukraine's possible Russian invasion, US intelligence has found the Kremlin is planning an offensive on many fronts at the beginning of next year with the involvement of up to 175,000 troops, according to US officials and an intelligence document, provided by the paper. “The Washington Post”.
The Kremlin has moved troops towards the border with Ukraine while asking Washington to ensure that Ukraine does not become part of NATO and that the alliance will refrain from certain military activities in and around Ukraine's territory. The unclassified American intelligence document, provided by prestigious newspapers, including satellite photos, features Russian forces collected in four countries. According to this document, 50 tactical field groups are currently engaged, along with tanks and artillery “that have recently reached”.
While Ukraine has estimated that Russia has nearly 94,000 troops near the border, the American document says that this figure is 70,000, but envisions a gathering of up to 175,000 soldiers and describes the wide range of tactical groups of battalions directly and from the “border to blurt out its goals and to create ambivalent”.
