Northern Macedonia citizens on 1 January will receive higher electricity and central heating bills.
The Regulatory Commission for Energy on Friday has decided to raise the price of heating by 14 percent, while on Thursday electricity cost it for about 10 percent.
A family that has paid around 3,000 denars per month (50 euros), the price increase will amount to 300 denarii, or 5 euros a month. Higher bills will be received for central heating.
The price increase, the Regulatory Commission has argued with the energy crisis and the inability of companies to cover losses.
The decision to raise the price of electricity included the removal of the daily free fee between 14 and 16. The commission has announced that this decision will save around 100,000 euros of electricity daily.
Northern Macedonia has not applied electricity restrictions, and institution management has assured citizens that the supply will be continuous, while even new price increases will not be available.
Despite that, the opposition has criticised the government for these decisions, which, according to the V MRO DPMNE will burden the citizens' economic situation.
“Zaevism continues to violate the citizens' standard of living. After increasing the price of electricity by over 15%, the regime also made a new price increase. In conditions where citizens can barely afford to eat, when product prices are raised up to the sky, the new decision to expensive heating and energy will hit citizens' standards of”, the VMRO DPMNE's reaction says.
