These statements have been issued under the intergovernmental conference held today, with Serbia opening the group number 4 “Green Agency and Sustainable Freeness”, which consists of four negotiating chapters (Transport Policy, Energy, Trans-European Networks and Environment and Climate Change).
As reported by Brussels, the Express broadcasts, to European Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhely, this meeting sends the EU a strong political signal for its commitment to Serbia's EU membership.
The membership negotiations are progressing and the EU is responding to the country's progress. Opening negotiations for chapters means that important negotiations on these areas can now begin. This means that hard work should not only continue but also intensify”, Warelj said.
But, he has reiterated that dialogue for normalising relations with Kosovo will be determining how the negotiation process between Belgrade and Brussels will continue.
Even state secretary at Slovenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gasper Dovzhan, stressed that the simultaneous opening of four negotiating chapters brings more dynamics to membership negotiations. The new “Methodology is the political management of the integration process. In this government mandate, we are managing this process and all reforms, primarily reforms in the area of rule of law, and this has undoubtedly yielded results”, the head of the Serbian government said.

EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borell said in Titter on the occasion of opening the Fourth Group that it is important for Belgrade to continue working for rule of law, harmonisation with EU foreign and security policy and dialogue with Pristina.
With the opening of this group, Serbia has opened only 22 chapters in membership negotiations.
The negotiation process is under way in the new methodology approved by the European Commission in early 2020.
Serbia and Montenegro, which had earlier begun the process of membership negotiations, have accepted the new methodology approved in 2020.
Within the framework of new methodology, there arematic groups that include several chapters. The new methodology has six themes.
This is the first time Serbia officially opens a claster.
