Thaci's defense lies with the Prosecutor at The Hague: You're inspired by the Russians.

The defence of former president Thaci says The Hague Special Prosecutor is arguing with anti-Albanian stereotypes and politically motivated for keeping him in custody. According to Thaci's lawyer, Z. The SP is trying to present Kosovo as a failed state and its police as a criminal organisation. In the second response that former President Thaci's lawyer [...]
Gregory Kehoe, lawyer for former President Hashim Thaci, has submitted his response to the specialised Prosecution, which considered Kosovo Police could ensure the security needed for his release from custody.
The lawyer writes that the risks the prosecution mentioned also existed for the accused who were tried at the International War Crimes Tribunal in the former Yugoslavia, founded by the United Nations Organisation (OKB). He says the Special Prosecutor's Office always has something to say to justify the Special Court's policy of failing to release Thaci.
In Mr. Thaci, these reasonings include “risking” that he “mund” escape, even though he surrendered voluntarily and never displayed any intention for escape; “ ” that he “mund” prevents procedures and intervenes in witnesses and “risk” that he will commit similar crimes... These “responsive” theories existed for each accused at The Hague International Tribunal, but were granted provisional release. That's not what happens in Special Chambers”, it says in the lawyer's building.
Kehoe writes that Thaci has not shown that he poses any greater risk in the case of provisional release than the numerous prisoners tried by The Hague Tribunal.
When Mr. Thaci offers guarantees from third states, more excuses are offered and those guarantees are ignored”, the lawyer writes.
According to him, the Special Court, unlike The Hague International Tribunal, has stricter standards and criteria for Kosovo Albanians.
The only action among inmates temporarily released by The Hague International Tribunal (including Albanian detainees) and Mr. Thaci is the request of Specialised Chambers with stricter standards and criteria against Kosovo Albanian indictees”, said in Gregory Kehoe's parade.
He cites several cases when the then Hague Tribunal had temporarily freed many Serbs in Serbia, despite mass human rights violations they had made.
The Hague's “Tribunal also gave temporary release to many Serbs in Serbia, even though mass human rights violations committed by the security forces of this state far greater than those charged by U The CK or the accused in the current case. In those cases, The Hague Tribunal respected guarantees given by Serbia despite atrocities committed by its government against Albanians. Of course, these state guarantees and the terms of release and return were constantly respected”, the document says.
He stresses that the Specialised Prosecutor's Office is arguing with anti-Albanian stereotypes, attacking credibility in the Kosovo Police, without evidence. According to Kehoe, the SPS, this is how it attempts to present Kosovo as a failed state.
“ZPS now attacks the credibility of the Kosovo Police itself (“PK”), not with evidence but with implications. These attacks on KP credibility play with stereotypes that Kosovo is a failed state and its people as prone to corruption”, writes the lawyer.
Reasons on Why According to Z Thaci's SP and others should be held in custody, according to the former president's defence, are based on deformities and half true. According to him, for this, the SPS is inspired by Russian propaganda and Thaci's political opponents.
The SPS's “Applications for Mr. Thaci is based on deformities and half - truths inspired by Russian propaganda, Mr. Incredible Thaci and media articles”, says the document, adding that “Z The SP effectively means that Mr. Thaci, in his quality as prime minister and president, led Kosovo as a criminal state”.
Gregory Kehoe, lawyer of former President Hashim Thaci
According to lawyer Kehoe, the SPS wants to present the Kosovo Police as a criminal organisation.
He also cites former President Thaci's photo with former Kosovo Police Director Rashit Qalaj as an excuse the SPS has used to seek his detention.
“ZPS offers no evidence of improper conduct [ REDECT]. She relies on a photograph of Mr. Thaci [ [File] - Yeah. This photo is actually derived from the then Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri's official Facebook profile, September 29, 2018. It showed Mr. Thaci holding a field meeting with then-KP chief Rashit Qalaj, then the director of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, Shpend Maximi, later with Finance Minister Bedri Hamza, following the official visit to the Kosovo-Serbia border point in Brnjak and Wyman Lake. ZPS hides the text from Mr. Tahiri”, said in response to Thaci's lawyer.
The prosecution's reasons for Thaci's lawyer are politically motivated by Russia, which portrays Kosovo and its police as criminal.
Its “ZPS is unintelligible to the professionalism and integrity of the KP, especially in light of its regular co-operation with the KP, like. for Mr. Thaci and other indictees. Indeed, data shows that until today, Kosovo Police co-operation with the Specialised Prosecutor's Office and Specialised PK Chambers have been exemplary”, the document says.
The SPS predecessors arguing against the ability of the Kosovo Police to ensure Thaci's conditional release, according to the former president's lawyer, are undermined by the praise the KK said it received from the US government, namely Ambassador Philip Costnet, the OSCE of the European Union.
In conclusion, Thaci's defence requires that a hearing be called to address the police's views on the feasibility of releasing Thaci into domestic custody, views of state governments providing guarantees for Thaci's release in their respective territories. All in the end, it requires that Mr. “Court order Mr. Thaci in such conditions is considered appropriate. ”
The four former political and military leaders of the KLA, former President Hashim Thaci, former leaders Kadri Veselin and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as the head of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group (LVV), Rexhep Selimi, were arrested and sent to Special Court detention on November 4th and 5th last year.
On November 4th, former spokeswoman KLA, Jakup Krasniqi was arrested and sent to special custody. To the same destination, on a military plane, former war associates Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini and Rexhep Selimi left the following day.
The arrests came after a Special Court preliminary procedure judge confirmed the charges against four former KLA leaders. They are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The incident holds Thaci, Veselin, Krasniqi and Selimi responsible for a series of crimes allegedly committed at several detention centres during 1998-1999. The specialized prosecutor accuses them of being or should be aware of such crimes.
