Svechla in Slovenia: We will fight various crimes “trafficking, narcotics, smuggling of migrants”

Interior Minister Jhelal Svecla attended the ministerial forum between the European Union and the Western Balkans for Justice and Home Affairs, organised by the Slovenian presidency of the EU Council in Brdo, Slovenia.

This conference discussed the importance of co-operation in the joint fight against organised crime and corruption, illegal migration, as well as terrorism and violent extremism.

Svechla stressed that the focus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is and will continue to be in combating various crimes such as trafficking of human beings, narcotics, smuggling of migrants, as well as trafficking of small and light arms.

He also presented the results achieved so far, as well as the need for support in building human and technical capacities in the fight against organised crime.

In the margins of this conference, Minister Svechla also met with Europol Executive Director Catherine De Bore.

At the meeting with De Bore, Minister Svechla reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Kosovo Police to fight transnational organised crime, as well as agreed with De Bole to operate two already signed agreements with Europol and intensify jobs for signing the next agreement.
