US striker kills four people, wounding three others before they are killed

One assailant has shot four people dead, and three others, including one policeman, in Denver, in the United States on Monday evening. The attack was carried out at several locations and ended with the murder of suspected attacker by police.

Investigators have not yet determined the motive for the attack that began around 17 p.m., when an armed person shot and killed two women and injured a man near the city centre of Denver, police commander Paul Paz said.

The suspect then escaped in a car and shot a man dead in the eastern quarter of Denver, Cheesman Park, before opening fire again west of the city, where a person was shot, the police commander said. According to him, the suspect twice exchanged shots with police officers following him, making a police car motionless.

From that location, the assailant drove to the nearby town of Lakewood, where he shot and killed the fourth person inside a business, according to police spokesman John Romero, Reuters writes.

The gunman fled the town of Lakewood, when police tried to stop him, and got involved in combat with the police before walking to a hotel where he injured a worker, Romero said.

He then shot the police again, wounding one of them before he was killed by the police. Authorities have not published his identity and said the circumstances of the attack are being investigated.
