O SBE: Republika Srpska threatens peace, stability in Bosnia, region

OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde and Association Secretary-General Helga Maria Schmidt estimated today that the adoption of a series of conclusions at the Republika Srpska Assembly calling for a unilateral withdrawal from state and entity levels threatens peace and stability in BiH and the region. Ann Linde believes the move leads to an escalation of tensions and is contrary to what has been achieved in the last 26 years.

“Call on political leaders in Republika Srpska to refrain from negative political actions that cause division,” said Linde.

She added that endangering the Dayton Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH carries with it the risk of endangering peace and stability in the country and the region.

While, Secretary General of the Helga Maria Schmidt said the ongoing crisis is affecting the economy, discouraging investments and slowing down key reforms.

Unfortunately, the burden of this crisis will again fall on citizens who are already facing increased unemployment, corruption and health shortcomings”, it claims.

Linde and Schmidt called on all sides to restore the full functionality of state-level institutions and engage in constructive political dialogue in order to reach a consensus for the benefit of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
