At the Commission for Economics, Industry, the Undertaking and Market, Rizvanolli first spoke of the energy crisis that has involved the countries of the region, including Kosovo.
A key challenge facing countries and not only the region but also the world's energy crisis, which comes first as a result of rising gas prices on global markets. This crisis has been affecting the region for several months. Countries in the region are all affected without exception and much more than we have Albania, for example, has been affected for months because they have imported more energy and so far they have allocated 180m euros in the form of bank guarantees for energy sector liquidity”, she has said.
Minister Rizvanolli said the price of energy import in Kosovo is very high and that the situation is extraordinary.
“We have had a relatively mine situation, since by the beginning of November we have relied mainly on our KEK generation capacities and these have enough to cover local demand. As expected with weather cooling and increased demand for electricity, import demand has increased. The price of electricity import is extremely high, is a state of emergency”, she said.
She said they are hoping to have abundant atmospheric rainfall in Albania and exchange electricity with them without having to buy it at high prices on the market.
“Trust in the hope that with the increase in atmospheric rainfall in Albania, we will be able to exchange electricity without having to buy at the market at high prices that will positively affect”, Rizvanol said in front of MPs.
Kosovo has recently been affected by the energy crisis. Prime Minister Albin Kurti days ago at the Kosovo Government meeting has called on ministers to take the necessary actions to secure electricity for citizens.
